After many years of living in their modest carpenter’s cottage, our clients wanted to redesign the front of the house with an urbane and painterly eye towards composition, material and light.
The scope of the project was to redesign the facade and entry landscaping with minimal changes to the interior. The location of the front door was retained. Large windows make the front rooms airy and bright. A stone bridge was formed to span from sidewalk to entry while a cantilevered steel and glass canopy provides rain protection. Voluminous plants add natural texture to the palette of concrete, stone, tile, glass and metal. The lower patio houses a brightly colored concrete sculpture created by the client for his new garden.
